The Postgraduate Medical Education and training Board

is responsible for all postgraduate medical education and training, including general practice, across the UK. PMETB assumed its statutory powers in 2005 and took over the responsibilities of the Specialist Training Authority of the Medical Royal Colleges (STA) and the Joint Committee on Postgraduate Training for General Practice (JCPTGP).
