Welcome to HPE

Why join the new Bristol HPE scheme?

As a newly qualified GP, you may feel that you

bullet have had enough of ‘formal’ teaching
bullet don’t have the time to attend courses in a busy work schedule
bullet feel you’ve ‘jumped through enough hoops’

The new Bristol HPE scheme puts you as an individual first. We aim above all to provide a supportive environment at a challenging and often stressful time in a GP’s career. The scheme is emphatically not just a series of lectures that may be of little personal benefit to you.

We offer

bullet time and space for you to reflect on your personal needs
bullet protected time where we will facilitate these needs being met
bullet encouragement of peer support groups, with as much or as little facilitation as you require
bullet a range of courses and workshops, which you are invited but not obliged to access, designed to meet your professional and personal needs, and where the emphasis is on enjoyment!
bullet support in taking control of your own lifelong learning, and in getting the most out of the learning experiences you choose to do
bullet guidance in managing a Personal Learning Plan and a personal Portfolio, which will help prepare you for Appraisal and Revalidation.

What do we expect of you in return?

bullet to maintain a Personal Learning Plan
bullet to spend at least 50% of you HPE time in group situations
bullet above all, to gain from the experience in terms of personal development and enjoyment!

We look forward to welcoming you onto the scheme.
