What is a Guideline?It’s advice on health care management based on a set of national or local standards which have general professional support. A guideline is often produced by experts and reflects the literature and current best practice. NHS: The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN): Royal College of Physicians Guidelines: National Clinical Guideline Centre (NCGC). The National Collaborating
Centre for Chronic Conditions (NCC-CC) merged with three other national
collaborating centres (Primary Care, Acute Care and Nursing & Supportive
Care) on 1 April 2009 to form the National Clinical Guideline Centre (NCGC).
The NCGC, funded by NICE and hosted by the Royal College of Physicians of
London, is the largest centre in the UK developing clinical guidelines to
describe care for long term conditions delivered across primary and
